Major stakeholders in the Maritime Industry have eulogised the Onne Area 2 Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Babandede, on the emergency of the Command as the ‘Best in Antismuggling Activities’ at the CGC Award held on November 29, 2024 in Abuja.
The Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) instituted the Award to celebrate deserving officers and men of the service who have distinguished themselves in different areas of the Customs service.
Recalled that Comptroller Babandede in just five months of taken over as the CAC of Onne Area 2 Customs stunt crime watchers with 62 containers of evil bearing contents laden with dangerous drugs, prohibited contrabands and mouth eye burlging 844 units of assorted arms and ammunition which threw Onne and Eastern residents and business communities in a terrifying state.
The seizures which attracted the Customs CGC for second time to Onne Customs port led to the placing the Onne port on the CGC l list and Consequently declaration of state of emergency on the port.
The evil men defiance and attempts to forge another means of continuing their evil deed met a brick wall as Babandede and his team were more prepared and yet another 20 containers of 40ft laden with hard drugs and another one 20ft containers of donkey skin again were intercepted by the iconic Babandede and his men.
Critical stake holder and Onne community has risen I unison to commend the CAC honour as best anti smuggling activities Command, describing it as well deserved.
The CEO,of Odest bonded terminal Chidera Oganuzor, described the honour as most welcoming and commendable and a testimony of standard Customs Officer.
Others who spoke were on the same page on the Excellences of Compt Babandede since his coming on board as CAC noting that Onne is becoming safer by the day.
