The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has extended warm felicitations to waterways users, operators, stakeholders, and the Muslim faithful in Lagos as they celebrate Eid-el-Adha.
Marking the season of sacrifice, devotion, and love, the Authority called on all commuters and boat operators to place safety at the forefront of their activities, especially during the current rainy season.
LASWA strongly advised against night travel on inland waterways, citing reduced visibility and adverse weather conditions that could endanger safe navigation. Passengers were urged to plan their journeys during daylight hours and remain vigilant at all times.
The Authority also emphasised strict adherence to operational safety guidelines, including compliance with speed limits and regular checks of weather conditions before embarking on trips. It reiterated that safety must never be compromised, as it remains a shared responsibility among all users.
LASWA further mandated the compulsory use of life jackets by all passengers and crew throughout every journey.
In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser on Blue Economy to the Governor of Lagos, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, congratulated Muslim faithful on the celebration and reaffirmed LASWA’s commitment to ensuring safe, secure, and efficient waterways transportation across the state.
The Authority wished residents a peaceful and safe Eid-el-Adha, urging everyone to celebrate responsibly while adhering to safety-first practices on the waterways.
