Ethiopian Airlines has strengthened its African route network with the launch of a new passenger service to Mauritius, further advancing its strategy of improving air connectivity across the continent.

The inaugural flight, which commenced operations on July 12, 2026, will operate three times weekly, linking Mauritius directly to Addis Ababa and providing passengers with seamless access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network spanning Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

The airline said the new route reflects its commitment to strengthening intra-African connectivity while supporting trade, tourism and business opportunities between Mauritius and the rest of the world.

Renowned for its thriving tourism industry, rich cultural heritage and expanding economy, Mauritius becomes another strategic destination in Ethiopian Airlines’ growing African network. The direct connection is expected to boost commercial ties, promote tourism and deepen people-to-people exchanges between Mauritius and Ethiopia.

Commenting on the launch, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, described Mauritius as a destination of immense economic and tourism potential.

“Mauritius is a destination of remarkable beauty, rich culture, and growing economic importance. By establishing a direct link between the country and our vast global network, we are pleased to offer convenient travel options to our passengers while bringing the world closer to Mauritius.

“As a Pan-African airline, Ethiopian will continue to serve as a catalyst for enhanced air connectivity between Africa and the rest of the world”, he said.

Passengers on the new service will enjoy the airline’s award-winning onboard experience, modern fleet and efficient connections through its Addis Ababa hub, offering easy onward travel to major destinations across five continents.

The airline noted that the Mauritius service forms part of its broader expansion strategy aimed at enhancing Africa’s aviation network, promoting tourism and supporting economic integration across the continent.
