United Nigeria Airlines has joined Nigerians in commemorating June 12 Democracy Day through a strategic partnership with Kalakiri, a new Nigerian film centred on themes of democracy, unity, and national cohesion.
The airline said its decision to support the movie reflects a deliberate alignment with its core values of connecting people and fostering unity across Nigeria’s diverse cultural landscape.
As part of the Democracy Day celebration, moviegoers who watch Kalakiri in cinemas nationwide on Friday, June 12, will have the opportunity to participate in a special promo. The star prize is a round-trip premium (business class) ticket to any destination within the airline’s domestic network, while the second prize winner will receive a round-trip economy class ticket.
In addition, all viewers who present their cinema tickets will enjoy a 10 per cent discount on any United Nigeria Airlines ticket purchase.
Speaking on the initiative, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dayo Olawuyi, said the partnership is a tribute to the ideals of democracy and national unity.
“June 12 is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for the freedom and unity we enjoy today. Supporting Kalakiri is our way of honouring that legacy”, Olawuyi said.
“As an airline that connects every corner of this nation and brings people of diverse backgrounds together, we believe strongly in the power of storytelling to reinforce our shared identity. This film reflects those values, and we are proud to support it”.
Also commenting, the airline’s Marketing Manager, Ebele Nebolisa-Mokaogwu, noted that the collaboration aligns closely with the airline’s broader mission.
“We are committed to uniting people and cultures across Nigeria, and this film speaks directly to that vision. It is about strengthening our collective identity through the ideals of democracy”, she said.
Kalakiri is currently showing in cinemas nationwide.
