Leading engineering construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, has hosted a one-day world-class construction equipment exhibition at its Lekki–Ajah facility in Lagos, bringing together top global manufacturers and industry stakeholders in a strategic showcase of modern earth-moving technology.
The exhibition featured leading equipment suppliers, including Pan African Equipment Group, which presented Komatsu machinery, alongside Sany Heavy Industry Co. Limited and crane specialists XCMG, among others.
Speaking to journalists, the Head of Plant and Equipment Department (PED) at Julius Berger, Nico Trostawicki, said the exhibition was organised to allow the company to assess a range of equipment brands under consideration for its fleet expansion and replacement programme.
He explained that staff from operations, workshops, maintenance, and project sites were fully involved in the evaluation process, adding that their hands-on feedback would play a critical role in determining which machines best meet the company’s demanding operational standards.
According to him, Julius Berger places strong emphasis on technical assessment from field personnel, whose experience helps guide procurement decisions and ensures that only the most efficient and durable equipment is deployed on projects.
Representing Komatsu Japan, Technical Manager, Kaneko Takamori, described the event as an important platform to demonstrate the capabilities of their machines directly to a key industry player like Julius Berger. He praised the company’s rigorous evaluation approach and expressed optimism about receiving detailed operational feedback on both displayed and catalogue equipment.
Also speaking, Managing Director of Pan African Group, Melhem Khoury, expressed confidence in deeper collaboration with Julius Berger, noting the company’s long-standing reputation for excellence in Nigeria’s construction sector. With over 17 years of industry experience in machinery, construction, and mining equipment, he said working with Julius Berger remains a benchmark for quality partnerships.
Khoury recalled previous successful transactions with the company, including the sale of a three-piece Nissan machine, and commended its professionalism and engineering standards.
From Julius Berger’s technical team, Workshop Manager Dragan Bincic described all exhibited equipment as meeting high performance standards, noting that while the machines showed only marginal differences in capability, careful selection remains essential for operational efficiency.
He also highlighted the impressive technology on display, saying it reflects significant advancements in modern earth-moving equipment and will influence future deployment decisions across projects.
Other participants from the company included Engr. Mike Andrea, a site manager based in Port Harcourt, who joined other regional technical staff in assessing the machinery showcased at the exhibition.
