
Customs Area Controller, Kebbi Command, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, has visited the scene of a tragic attack in Maje, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where Deputy Superintendent of Customs Sadiq Tahir Muhammad was killed on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
During the visit, Matawalle commiserated with officers and community members over the incident, praying for the repose of the deceased officer’s soul.
He urged the officers to collaborate with sister security agencies and maintain cordial relationships with host communities. He also advised them to remain vigilant, well-equipped, and respond decisively when attacked, emphasising the importance of seamless information sharing among security agencies.

Commanding Officer of the 1 Battalion Nigerian Army, Major Shola Moses, who accompanied Matawalle on the visit, reminded officers that “we are our brothers’ keepers”, stressing the need for cooperation and timely intelligence sharing.
The Village Head of Maje, represented by Chief Imam Yusuf, offered prayers for the deceased and pledged the community’s continued support in sharing relevant information with security agencies.

The attack, attributed to suspected bandits linked to the Lakurawa sect, has heightened concerns about security challenges in the region.
The Comptroller’s visit reflects the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to upholding safety and combating insecurity in vulnerable areas.
