The Managing Director of Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc (SAHCO), Mrs. Adenike Aboderin, alongside members of the executive management team, has paid a strategic courtesy visit to Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) in Lagos, reinforcing a shared commitment to operational excellence and deeper industry collaboration.
The high-level engagement brought together key officials from both organisations to deliberate on critical areas including operational efficiency, safety management, infrastructure development, passenger experience, technological innovation, and stakeholder synergy within Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.
Welcoming the SAHCO delegation, the Acting Chief Operating Officer/Head of Aeronautical and Cargo Services at BASL, Mr. Remi Jibodu, underscored the importance of sustained collaboration among aviation stakeholders to ensure seamless airport operations and improved service delivery.
“At MMA2, our priority remains delivering an efficient, safe, and passenger-friendly airport environment. This can only be achieved through strong collaboration across the aviation value chain. We commend SAHCO’s commitment to operational improvement and safety enhancement, and engagements like this are vital for industry growth”, he stated.
Jibodu further highlighted BASL’s ongoing initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, including improved monitoring systems, real-time performance reporting, stakeholder accountability frameworks, and continuous infrastructure upgrades aimed at reducing congestion, improving baggage handling, and ensuring on-time performance.
In her remarks, Aboderin congratulated BASL on the recent settlement announcement by the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, expressing optimism about strengthened future collaboration.
“We are encouraged by the recent settlement announcement, which we believe will unlock new opportunities for enhanced cooperation, operational efficiency, and long-term industry growth.
As a key stakeholder, we look forward to being well-positioned for upcoming expansion initiatives”, she said.
She noted that the visit was designed to align operational priorities, deepen partnerships, and strengthen collaboration across the aviation sector.
“The aviation industry is highly interconnected. Achieving excellence in safety, efficiency, and passenger satisfaction requires continuous collaboration. As we expand and modernise our operations, close engagement with airport operators and stakeholders is essential for sustainable growth”, she added.
Aboderin also disclosed that SAHCO is investing significantly in modern Ground Support Equipment (GSE), workforce development, digital transformation, and enhanced customer service initiatives to meet evolving global standards.
She further emphasised ongoing efforts to strengthen safety culture, operational discipline, and personnel capacity, alongside the introduction of improved monitoring systems to minimise risks and enhance airside efficiency.
On sector expansion, she highlighted the importance of introducing a slot management system to improve coordination and turnaround efficiency amid increasing traffic volumes.
“A structured slot system will enhance operational planning, equipment deployment, and turnaround time, while reducing pressure on stakeholders and improving the overall passenger experience”, she noted.
Discussions also addressed key operational concerns including apron safety, equipment movement, fatigue management, behavioural compliance, and the need for efficient turnaround times to support operational reliability and passenger convenience.
Both parties agreed on the need for continuous training, stronger monitoring frameworks, counselling programmes, and enhanced safety oversight to mitigate risks and improve operational standards.
They also explored opportunities to leverage technology and shared platforms to improve communication, data visibility, and coordination among airlines, ground handlers, and airport operators.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitments from both organisations to sustained collaboration in advancing safety, efficiency, infrastructure development, and service delivery across Nigeria’s aviation industry.
