Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), has reinforced its reputation as a model for airport excellence, clinching multiple top honours at the 15th Nigerian Aviation Awards (NIGAV) and Ministerial Dinner.

The awards, decided through a rigorous public and industry-wide voting process, remain one of the most respected benchmarks in Nigeria’s aviation sector, celebrating organisations and individuals driving innovation, service quality, and industry growth.

At this year’s ceremony, MMA2 emerged as a standout performer, securing Best Nigeria Domestic Terminal of the Year and the Best Airport Accessibility and Inclusivity Award. In individual categories, BASL Chairman, Dr. Wale Babalakin, was honoured with the Outstanding Aviation Entrepreneurial Award, while Acting COO/Head of Aeronautics & Cargo Services, Mr. Remi Jibodu, was named Passenger Terminal Manager of the Year.

The recognition as Best Nigeria Domestic Terminal of the Year highlights MMA2’s nearly two decades of consistent excellence in terminal operations, customer service, and passenger experience. Since commencing operations close to 19 years ago, the terminal has maintained high operational standards while adapting to evolving passenger and airline demands earning its status as a benchmark for airport terminal management in Nigeria.

Notably, the award also affirmed the strength and foresight of MMA2’s original design. Conceived with a future-focused vision, the terminal’s infrastructure, layout, and facilities have remained remarkably efficient and relevant, supporting seamless operations with minimal structural changes over the years.

Equally significant is the Best Airport Accessibility and Inclusivity Award, which recognises MMA2’s sustained commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all passengers. The terminal has continued to upgrade its facilities and service culture to ensure accessibility, comfort, and dignity for every traveller.

As part of this effort, MMA2 recently conducted specialised training for frontline staff on assisting passengers on the autism spectrum, further strengthening its capacity to deliver empathetic and inclusive service.

Reacting to the awards, management expressed gratitude to the organisers and the wider aviation community, describing the recognition as both an honour and a renewed call to action.

“We are deeply honoured by this recognition from NIGAV and the aviation industry at large. It strengthens our resolve to continue raising the bar.

“At MMA2, our commitment remains unwavering; to deliver the highest standards of safety, security, and passenger experience for every traveller.

“We will continue to invest in technology, training, and infrastructure to ensure MMA2 remains Nigeria’s terminal of choice”.

Management also commended the organisers of the NIGAV Awards for fostering excellence, accountability, and healthy competition across the aviation sector.
