In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Zela Aviation has reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria’s aviation market, where it has spent nearly a decade supporting airlines with Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) solutions.

The aviation brokerage company, which specialises in aircraft and ACMI placements, has built a strong presence in Nigeria over the past nine to 10 years, working with local carriers to provide flexible capacity solutions tailored to their operational needs.

Through its extensive international network and experience in the ACMI market, Zela Aviation has helped Nigerian airlines access additional aircraft capacity for both year-round operations and seasonal business, providing greater flexibility as carriers respond to changing market demands.

The company’s anniversary comes at a time when Nigerian airlines continue to face the challenge of expanding their fleets while managing aircraft availability, operational costs and fluctuations in passenger demand.

Against this backdrop, ACMI arrangements offer airlines an alternative way of increasing capacity without the immediate financial and operational commitments associated with acquiring and managing additional aircraft.

Zela Aviation said it sees further opportunities in Nigeria as local carriers seek more efficient ways to strengthen their fleets and respond to growing demand in an increasingly competitive aviation market.

Commenting on the milestone, Chairman of Zela Aviation, Andreas Christodoulides, said 2026 was a particularly important year for the company as it marked two decades of involvement in the aviation industry.

“2026 is a particularly important year for Zela Aviation as we celebrate 20 years in the aviation industry. At the same time, we are proud to reflect on almost a decade of involvement in the Nigerian ACMI market,” Christodoulides said.

He described Nigeria as an important market for the company, particularly in the post-COVID period, noting that its years of engagement with local airlines had given the company a deeper understanding of the market and the challenges facing Nigerian carriers.

“Nigeria has been an important market for us post-COVID, and over the years we have had the opportunity to build strong relationships and gain a deep understanding of the needs and challenges of Nigerian airlines”, he said.

Christodoulides said the company’s experience in Nigeria had been rewarding, particularly its role in supporting the growth and operational flexibility of local carriers through ACMI solutions.

“Our experience in Nigeria has been extremely rewarding, and we are proud to have played a role in supporting the growth of local carriers through ACMI solutions”, he said.

Looking ahead, he said Zela Aviation remained positive about the prospects of the Nigerian market and would continue to strengthen its relationships with local airlines.

“As we look ahead, we remain very positive about the opportunities within the Nigerian market”,ñ Christodoulides stated.

As the company enters its third decade, Zela Aviation said it would continue to build on its international aviation expertise while deepening its relationships within Nigeria and supporting airlines with flexible solutions to their fleet and capacity requirements.
